Pokemon Design Showcase Part 1

By Duncan Thomas 2 years ago No comments

Our artists are always working on new designs for our customers. Today we are going to take a look at some new Pokemon Designs from one of our artists, Lina. We have a look at the designs as their early sketches and finished product. All of the designs shown, and more are available on to be printed to all of our products.

#143: Snorlax

Snorlax, while not as popular as Pikachu, is an icon among the Pokemon games and shows. While known for its gluttonous eating habits and a deep sleep that only a Pokeflute could wake it from they are not to be taken lightly. Snorlax have been known to be fierce in battles in both the show and games, and Ash Ketchum’s became rather well known as fans as one of the few Pokemon to use more than 4 different moves in a single battle(a rule from the games broken only twice in over 19 seasons). This design shows a Snorlax and the baby Munchlax relaxing with their meal.

#131: Lapras

Another icon of the 1st generation of Pokemon, and based off of the Loch Ness Monster, Lapras is a strong swimming type pokemon. While given to the players by a Silph Company researcher in the games, Ash Ketchum found his Lapras separated from it’s family in the Orange islands and rescued it from its original, abusive trainers. Lapras is depicted as large enough to carry multiple people, and Pokemon across bodies of water and becomes a staple for Ash and his companions when needed to travel the seas. Ash later parted ways with his Lapras when they found it’s original herd, and it has not been seen since.

#479: Rotom

A pseudo-legendary from the 4th generation Pokemon games Rotom is an electric ghost that likes to live inside of household appliances. In the upcoming Sun and Moon games Rotom will take a new place alongside the player inside of the Pokedex. This is a new direction for the games, but will breath some life into the Pokedex, which has remained relatively unchanged since the original games. Its name is the word motor spelled backwards, and story has it that the first observed Pokemon was seen coming out of a lawn mower motor.

Check back for more designs and news, and let us know if you are excited to have a Rotom in your Pokedex. We can only hope it doesn’t follow in the footsteps of some other nintendo companions(We’re looking at you Navi).
